Using the iPhone camera with VoiceOver
By Con, founder of Music Wide Selfie · Updated 22 October 2026
Short answerWith VoiceOver on, the iPhone Camera app describes what's in view, such as how many faces it sees and where. Hold the phone steady, listen for the face description, and use the volume button as a shutter.
- Turn VoiceOver on in Settings › Accessibility.
- Listen for face and position descriptions before you shoot.
- The volume button is easier to find than the on-screen shutter.
- Ask Siri to open the camera.
Music Wide Selfie has VoiceOver labels and countdowns, with Accessible Director (spoken framing guidance) planned.
