Filming tips for Deaf and hard-of-hearing creators

Short answerUse visual cues instead of sounds (screen flash and haptics), check audio levels visually, add accurate captions to everything, and use Live Captions on supported iPhones to review what was said.
Visual alerts
Settings › Accessibility › Audio & Visual › LED Flash for Alerts flashes the light for notifications.
Know if the sound recorded
Look at audio meters in your recording or editing app. Music Wide Selfie’s Take Check is designed to confirm a recording has sound.
Captions
Auto-captions are a starting point. Read through and fix names and terms before posting.
Live Captions
On supported iPhones and languages, Live Captions (Settings › Accessibility) can caption audio playing on your phone, which helps when reviewing takes.
Signing on camera
Frame from the waist up with space for your hands, plain background, good even light on face and hands.
Questions
Where can I find signing creators?
Deaf communities and organisations in your country are the best place to connect.
